Possible Tracklist Revealed!

Busy day today! Kevin and I sampled some of the work from False Priest today and I must say, it's pretty fantastic so far. It follows a similar style in "song fragments" that Skeletal Lamping did, but is a bit darker in mood like Hissing Fauna is. Kevin has also narrowed down the tracklist to 13 songs out of the 20 he's written. This is not final!!! Tracklist is as follows:

1) Fruit the Color of Decay
2) Is This Nightmare a Curse?
3) Velvet Zhongua Minzu
4) Endless Coagulating Athens
5) Possible Extermination for Murphy
6) Oedipus' Nimble Self-Determination
7) Inside Our Frozen Cask
8) Narrowly Escaping the Theban Necropolis
9) The Controller's Sphere
10) Nubile Days (Swan Lake cover)
11) Incoherently Devolving in the Presence of Kings
12) Nouns in Shapeless Macrocycles
13) Entropic Release of Indicopleustes

I am personally ecstatic about his inclusion of "Nubile Days", which he actually played live acoustically last year in Atlanta.. the studio version is pretty beefed up, though! I can't wait to get back in the studio with Kevin tomorrow and find out what other wonderful information he wants me to leak on the internet :P

More to come!

Of Montreal in the studio!!!

Hello, my name is Ramash and I an intern working at the studio where Kevin Barnes is recording the upcoming Of Montreal album, False Priest. I had a chance to chat with him yesterday (as I am a huge fan!) and he gave me some details of the album, even showing me a bit of concept album artwork!
  • The album will be alternatively titled 5alse.9riest. He did not elaborate on what this was a reference to. Perhaps an inside joke? Or maybe it's just a styling he is interested in? Perhaps when we get a tracklist, it will make more sense.
  • He expects to have the album ready for mixing/mastering by November.
  • He will not be the only one in the studio this time around; most of the band will be recording certain parts of the album
  • He didn't get too deep into the concept of the album, but he said the beginning of the album will deal with the death of Georgie Fruit and the awakening of a new persona. Perhaps Kevin wants to take the live show in a new direction? This is very exciting!
He also gave me a sample of the artwork, which I happened to save on my flash drive. He told me he didn't mind if I post it online, he appreciates the hype :D
This is not final! Stick around, I'll keep you posted!
